Chicago Weekend Lineup Packs Taste of Chicago, Windy City Smokeout and World Cup Watch Parties for Summer Crowds
CHICAGO, IL — Chicago is leaning hard into summer this weekend with a citywide slate of food festivals, live music, neighborhood walks and museum outings. The biggest draws include Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, Windy City Smokeout, and a Chicago Fire FC watch party centered on the FIFA World Cup.
The events calendar also stretches from lakefront celebrations to indoor screenings and art markets, giving visitors and locals plenty of ways to plan around the July 10 to 12 window.
Taste, music and soccer take center stage
Taste of Chicago returns to Grant Park for its 46th year with local restaurants, food trucks and free concerts. The lineup includes performances by Common, Babyface, Beach Bunny and other acts, making the festival as much about music as it is about sampling the city’s signature bites.
Windy City Smokeout is also back for its 13th year, pairing barbecue with country music in a format that has helped make it one of the summer’s best-known festival weekends. On the soccer side, Recess in the West Loop is hosting a World Cup celebration with the Chicago Fire FC, where fans can watch matches live.
Neighborhood festivals keep the weekend busy
Beyond the marquee names, Chicago’s neighborhood calendar is especially active. The Chosen Few Picnic & Festival returns to Jackson Park for its 36th year, continuing its reputation as a major house music gathering.
Other options include Southport Art Fest on the north side, the Belmont Cragin Vintage Market, SAUCED Night Market, Kalapriya’s Mela Festival celebrating South Asian culture, and Chicago Artisan Market in Fulton Market. Free Chicago Greeter walks in Bronzeville add a quieter way to explore the city.
More ways to fill the weekend before summer slips by
For people looking beyond outdoor festivals, Chicago’s theater and arts scene has plenty going on too. MUBI Fest, Theater of the Mind, SuffsIceboy! The Musical, and several screenings and exhibitions are all part of the citywide mix.
With beaches officially open and festival season in full swing, the city’s message is clear: this is one of those weekends when Chicago tries to give every kind of visitor something to do. As always, event details can change, so checking ahead is part of the plan.
