Dana Point’s Ramps & Amps Event to Bring Skate, BMX, and Live Music to the Community

DANA POINT, CA — The city of Dana Point is set to host Ramps & Amps, a vibrant community event on Saturday, August 16, that will unite skateboarding, BMX riding, and live music in one action-packed celebration of local culture.

A Full Day of Skate and BMX Energy

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Doheny Village area will be transformed into a hub for skate and BMX enthusiasts. Professional riders will take to a massive vert ramp for high-energy demonstrations, showcasing flips, spins, and gravity-defying stunts that highlight the sport’s artistry and skill.

The event will also feature a free grom street course designed for young riders and a public street course for adults, encouraging the entire community to get involved. Participants are reminded to bring their own boards, bikes, helmets, and pads to join the fun.

Live Music to Set the Tone

While the ramps heat up with action, live music performances will provide the perfect soundtrack to the day. Local bands and artists will bring a mix of rock, punk, and alternative sounds that have long been tied to skate and BMX culture. This musical element aims to create a festival-like atmosphere, making the event as much about community gathering as it is about extreme sports.

Why Ramps & Amps Matters

City organizers say the event is more than just entertainment — it’s a chance to celebrate the skate and BMX lifestyle that has been a vital part of Southern California’s identity for decades. By combining sports and music, Dana Point is creating a space where generations can connect, share skills, and be inspired.
