Chicago’s 2026 Summer Festival Calendar Packs 60 Events, From Lollapalooza and Pride Fest to Jazz, Tacos and Art
CHICAGO, IL — Chicago’s summer festival season is already in full swing, and the city’s calendar is stacked with 60 events stretching from May into late September. The mix runs from neighborhood street fairs and art walks to major music festivals, outdoor screenings and longtime food celebrations.
For fans, that means nearly every weekend brings a different way to spend time outdoors, whether the draw is a headliner, a local vendor lineup or a block party built around a neighborhood’s identity.
Big-name music weekends anchor the city’s busiest stretch
Several of the season’s biggest draws land in the heart of summer. Grant Park hosts the Grant Park Music Festival, Taste of Chicago and Lollapalooza, while Millennium Park fills out the schedule with the Summer Music Series, Chicago Gospel Music Festival and Chicago House Music Festival and Conference.
Elsewhere, major-ticket events include Summer Smash at SeatGeek Stadium with Skrillex and Playboi Carti, Windy City Smokeout outside the United Center, North Coast Music Festival, and Riot Fest in Douglass Park with Twenty One Pilots, Alanis Morissette and Bad Religion.
Neighborhood festivals keep the city’s local flavor front and center
Beyond the marquee music lineup, Chicago’s neighborhood festivals give the season much of its character. Humboldt Park, Northalsted, Logan Square, Wicker Park, Chinatown, Greektown, Hyde Park and other communities each get their own turn in the spotlight.
Many of those events pair live music with food, art and family activities. Some, like Taste of Randolph, Taco and Tamales events, burger and beef festivals, and the returning Puerto Rican Festival and People’s Parade, lean heavily into the city’s food and cultural traditions.
What to watch for as the season rolls into fall
The schedule doesn’t taper off after August. Chicago keeps the momentum going into September with the Chicago Jazz Festival, Printers Row Lit Fest, Ravenswood Art Walk, the Great American Lobster Fest at Navy Pier and the Hyde Park Jazz Festival.
Several late-season lineups are still to be announced, including parts of Chicago Gospel Music Festival, Chinatown Summer Fair, El Grito Chicago and Chicago Live! That leaves room for more additions before the city closes out another crowded outdoor festival season.
