CCR Tribute Band Breaks Attendance Record At Mt. Morris Jamboree, Surpassing Eagles Tribute

MT. MORRIS, Ill. — A crowd of more than 2,500 fans packed the lawn of the Warren Reckmeyer Bandshell on Friday, Aug. 29, as Fortunate Sons, a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band, closed out the 2025 Mt. Morris Jamboree in record-breaking fashion.

A Record-Setting Night

Organizer Larry Ubben confirmed the turnout marked an all-time attendance record for the Jamboree’s free summer concert series. Fans filled chairs across South Wesley Avenue and spilled into the dance area in front of the stage, swaying along as the band delivered spot-on renditions of CCR classics.

“This is a new all-time record,” Ubben said with a wide grin as the band wrapped up its final set.

The night dethroned Heartache Tonight, an Eagles tribute act, which just one week earlier had drawn a record-setting crowd of 2,200.

High Energy Performance

From the opening chords to the final encore, Fortunate Sons had the crowd on its feet. The four-piece group delivered powerful guitar solos, soulful vocals, and a setlist that included fan favorites like Long As I Can See the Light, during which fans lit up the night with cell phone flashlights.

The concert carried on as evening temperatures dipped into the 60s, but the cool weather didn’t slow the energy of the audience. The dance area in front of the bandshell stayed full, with concert-goers moving in rhythm to the music.

A Season Of Strong Showings

The 2025 Jamboree featured an impressive lineup of tribute acts that each drew large followings:

  • Rocks Off (Rolling Stones tribute) — 1,400 attendees
  • Brass from the Past (Motown, soul, and rock) — 1,350 attendees
  • Chicago Tribute Anthology (Chicago tribute) — 1,200 attendees

The record-setting performance by Fortunate Sons capped off a summer of strong attendance and reaffirmed Mt. Morris’ reputation as a lively small-town music destination.

Community Pride In Mt. Morris

The Mt. Morris Fire Protection District praised the concert series on social media, writing:

“Couldn’t have asked for a better night to close out the 2025 season of the Mt. Morris Jamboree. The Fortunate Sons brought in a record-smashing crowd of over 2,500 tonight. We are honored to serve our community and think events like this show what a hidden gem it is.”

Local leaders credited Larry Ubben’s vision for transforming the Jamboree into a marquee summer attraction that brings visitors and music fans together each year.
