La Crosse Weather: Foggy Start Sunday, Sunshine and Milder 50s Return Early Week
LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN — A chilly and foggy Sunday morning along the Mississippi River will give way to sunny skies and a return to milder temperatures across western Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse.
Patchy fog developed overnight, particularly in river valleys and low-lying areas, and may persist through mid-morning. Drivers on I-90 and Highway 35 are advised to use caution and keep headlights on as visibility may drop quickly before conditions improve.
Sunny, Warmer Conditions Returning by Monday
Once the fog lifts, La Crosse will see a sunny afternoon with highs near 50°F, marking the start of a short-lived warmup. A light westerly breeze will bring even milder air Monday, pushing daytime highs into the upper 50s under clear skies.
By Tuesday, forecasters say temperatures could climb close to 60°F, offering a pleasant early-November stretch ideal for yard work and outdoor activities before the next weather change midweek.
“We’re seeing a quick rebound in temperatures thanks to a ridge of high pressure,” said a meteorologist at the National Weather Service La Crosse office. “It’s a great window for anyone finishing up fall cleanup before late-week showers arrive.”
Late Week Clouds and Showers Possible
The calm pattern is expected to shift by Thursday, when clouds begin to increase across western Wisconsin. Scattered showers could move in by Friday as a new system approaches from the Plains, bringing a slight cooldown into the weekend.
Despite the change, temperatures are forecast to remain above average for early November, though the NOAA La Niña Advisory warns that temperature swings could become more pronounced through the remainder of the season.
