Texas Woman Sentenced After Breaking Into Neighbor’s Home, Shooting Her in the Head, and “Drinking Her Blood,” Prosecutors Say
LACY LAKEVIEW, TEXAS — A 54-year-old Texas woman has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering her neighbor during a violent home invasion in 2022 — a killing prosecutors described as one of the most disturbing cases the region has seen. The victim, 45-year-old Angie Melissa Moore, was found shot in the head, and authorities say the attacker was discovered fleeing the home naked and covered in blood.
Neighbor Called 911 Moments Before Being Shot
On Sept. 7, 2022, Moore called 911 to report that her neighbor, Cynthia Ming, was trying to break in through a window. By the time officers arrived at the home in Lacy Lakeview, Moore had been fatally shot.
Police found Ming running from the property, unclothed and bleeding. She was arrested and taken to a hospital, where she made several incriminating statements to officers.
According to court documents, Ming allegedly told investigators she grabbed Moore’s gun and shot her in the head, claiming she attacked Moore because she believed the woman had killed her dog.
Authorities later reported that Ming also confessed to drinking the victim’s blood — a detail documented in medical and investigative records.
Suspect Claimed Memory Loss, Offered Shifting Explanations for Her Actions
While speaking to a physician the night of the murder, Ming claimed she had been “electrocuted” by a live wire at her home shortly before the killing, saying the shock left her disoriented and confused.
She told the doctor that after the electrocution she “walked around all bugged out” and could not remember the attack clearly.
Ming reportedly said:
“I don’t even remember it … the last thing I remember is the light fixture.”
Psychiatric evaluations diagnosed her with borderline personality disorder, histrionic personality disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type — but the doctor concluded she was sane at the time of the murder.
Defendant Changes Plea to Guilty, Accepts 50-Year Sentence
Ming initially entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, but later withdrew it and pleaded guilty.
She accepted a 50-year sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
Prosecutors said they doubted she would ever be released.
In a joint statement, prosecutors Duncan Widmann and Luke McCowan said the plea avoided the risks of a long insanity trial while still ensuring:
“Ming will almost certainly never leave prison.”
Victim’s Family Describes Years of Fear and Harassment
Moore’s family members filled the courtroom for sentencing, including her parents and her teenage son, Connor. His written statement was read aloud by Moore’s mother, expressing the anguish of losing her in such a violent way:
“She shed my mother’s innocent blood… She was Satan’s puppet… One day it will be worse for her when she stands before my almighty God.”
Moore’s mother also said her daughter endured years of harassment from Ming, describing the defendant as:
“A force of pure evil that lived across the street.”
The family said Moore repeatedly lived in fear but never imagined the violence would escalate to such extreme brutality.
As the Lacy Lakeview community continues to grieve, authorities say the case stands as a stark reminder of the unpredictable dangers posed by escalating neighbor disputes combined with untreated mental instability.
