Arctic Cold Targets Glasgow With 1–2 Inches of Snow and Dangerous 0°F Temperatures by Saturday

GLASGOW, MONTANA — Bitter Arctic air is tightening its grip on northeastern Montana this morning as temperatures hover near 14°F, with clear skies masking the cold that’s about to deepen. By this afternoon, the first light snow bands will begin to form across the Hi-Line, signaling the arrival of another early-winter push from Canada.

1–2 Inches of Snow Expected Friday Into Saturday as Cold Front Moves South

According to the National Weather Service, snow chances will increase Friday through Saturday as a low-pressure system dips south across the border. Most of the region — including Glasgow, Wolf Point, and nearby plains — will pick up 1 to 2 inches of snow.

Localized pockets could receive slightly more under heavier bursts, and brief visibility drops may occur during passing squalls. The stretch along Highway 2 between Glasgow and Wolf Point may see the most noticeable impacts, where 20 mph gusts could blow loose snow across open fields.

Cold Intensifies Saturday With 0°F Lows and –10°F Wind Chills

Friday remains brisk with highs near 30°F and steady west winds. But by Saturday, the Arctic air mass tightens fully, driving temperatures down to:

  • Morning lows near 0°F
  • Highs around 10°F
  • Wind chills dipping below –10°F

These conditions can become dangerous for anyone outdoors for extended periods, especially ranchers, road crews, and early morning drivers. Multiple base layers, insulated gloves, and face protection are strongly advised.

Slight Warm-Up Early Next Week, But Pattern Stays Active

Conditions will moderate slightly by Monday, with highs climbing back into the mid-30s, though colder air will still linger across the eastern plains. Long-range model guidance suggests another snow-bearing system between December 11–17, aligning with a developing storm track across the northern tier states.

Residents should prepare for additional winter hazards as the active early-December pattern continues.
