Austin, TX November 21st: Rising Austin teen pop icon Madison McWilliams is sharing today that she has been selected to host the holiday episode of the Chicago Music Guide’s podcast, following the podcast’s official announcement in their latest episode, which features Madison’s newest original single “Living for the Weekend.”
Likewise, the holiday episode will feature her newest overall release, an inspired and youthful take on holiday classic “Jingle Bell Rock,” recorded this fall with an all-star band of local Austin musicians (Will Armstrong, Landis Armstrong and Emily Gimble) as well as another holiday favorite.
Madison will also be helping kick off the holidays officially at Austin’s local tree lighting this Friday, opening for indie pop icons Echosmith at Hill Country Galleria. Echosmith are best known for their #13 Billboard Hot 100 hit “Cool Kids,” and were named one of “10 New Artists You Need To Know” in Rolling Stone in 2014. More info on the show and on Echosmith is available here and here.
Madison debuted her version of “Jingle Bell Rock” at the beginning of November when she was invited to perform at Macy’s® and the Make-A-Wish® Foundation’s “Concert for a Cause” in Frisco, TX as part of the kickoff for Macy’s® annual “Believe” campaign, wherein the company collects letters for Santa and donates $1 to Make-A-Wish® for each letter received. The recent video for Madison’s take on “Jingle Bell Rock” features footage from the event.
Madison has dedicated much of her efforts over the last few months to Election Day, starting with a recent tour in association with Headcount.org and AwesomenessTV which took Madison around several West Coast schools to perform and give information about voter pre-registration, which is possible in many states as early as 16 or 17. Madison, a seventeen-year-old herself, is the perfect spokesperson on this subject in an election which is bringing out what seems to be more young voters than ever before. Madison was featured in AwesomenessTV’s “I Am A Voter” campaign and returned as an election clerk earlier this week at the University of Texas in her hometown of Austin, TX. Look out for Madison’s latest music video “Living for the Weekend” playing in Footlocker locations across the country as part of a new partnership.
