Crucial Concerts in Austin This Week Flood Relief Shows, Free Blues, and Baroque Masterpieces

AUSTIN — As Texas continues recovering from July’s historic Hill Country floods, Austin’s vibrant music scene is stepping up with one of the most impactful live music weeks of the summer. From flood relief efforts and baroque chamber showcases to Austin’s beloved Blues on the Green, this week’s lineup blends community, culture, and genre diversity in unforgettable ways.

Kerr County Flood Relief Show: Community Through Sound

One of the week’s standout events is the Kerr County Flood Relief Show at Mohawk on Saturday. Organized by Resound and Mohawk, this stacked lineup includes psych-rockers DAIISTAR, post-punk energy from Font, synth-pop innovators Club Coma, electro-funk by Sexpop, Latin grooves from lluvvii, and art-pop freshness from Alma Muñeca.

The show directly supports flood-affected communities through the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund — a meaningful way for music fans to give back while enjoying some of the city’s most exciting emerging acts.

Blues on the Green Returns to Zilker Park

Austin’s longest-running free concert series, Blues on the Green, is back with a consolidated two-night format at Zilker Park (August 5–6), celebrating the 50th anniversary of local institution Antone’s.

  • Night 1 explodes with blues brilliance from Antone’s Allstars, featuring Sue Foley, the Peterson Brothers, and the powerhouse Ruthie Foster. Blakchyl’s R&B stylings lead into a headlining set by Bob Schneider.
  • Night 2 leans country with indie-pop from Elijah Delgado, harmonies by Next of Kin, and a sultry closing set from Chaparelle.

It’s one of the summer’s best community-centered music events — and it’s completely free.

Austin Chamber Music Festival: Two Nights of Classical Fusion

At Bates Recital Hall, the Austin Chamber Music Festival presents two unique evenings of classical performance:

  • Friday (Aug 1) welcomes Twelfth Night, a NYC-based baroque ensemble formed at Juilliard, performing music by Vivaldi and Telemann with a future-facing edge.
  • Saturday (Aug 2) features Poiesis Quartet, whose program combines Haydn and Brahms with contemporary composers — including the Austin premiere of Kevin Lau’s “String Quartet No. 7”.

This festival continues pushing boundaries for classical music in the city.

More Concerts You Shouldn’t Miss This Week

  • Exploded Drawing 65 at dadaLab with L.A. producer Daedelus, plus Alex DL and Ben G. R.
  • Hayes Carll at Waterloo Records (Aug 5), returning with thoughtful songwriting on his ninth album We’re Only Human.
