I-65 Drivers Wake to Rain and Fog, But Sunshine and 70° Warm-Up Set to Return Across North Alabama

HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA — North Alabama drivers are starting Sunday with wet roads and early showers, but clearer, milder weather is on the way. According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, scattered rain will taper off by late morning, paving the way for sunshine and calm conditions to begin the week.

Light rain moved through Madison County before dawn, leaving streets slick and skies overcast. Forecasters say rain chances near 70% early will fall rapidly after sunrise as north winds push drier air into the region.

Rain Clears, Sunshine Returns by Afternoon

Temperatures will hover around 54°F Sunday with gradual clearing expected later in the day. Motorists along I-65, I-565, and U.S. 72 should use caution early, as slick pavement and patchy fog could briefly reduce visibility during heavier showers.

“We’ll see the clouds thin and the sunshine return later this afternoon,” said meteorologists from the National Weather Service Huntsville office. “The start of the week will be perfect for travel and outdoor plans.”

Overnight, skies will continue to clear with lows dipping into the upper 30s and low 40s, setting up a calm and cool start to Monday.

Dry, Warm Stretch Through Midweek

By Monday, the region will enjoy sunny skies and highs around 63°F. Tuesday through Thursday will bring a full warm-up, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s under bright skies and light breezes.

Wednesday and Thursday are expected to feel more like late October than early November, offering perfect conditions for leaf cleanup, hiking, or travel along I-65.

A weak front Friday may bring a few clouds and slightly cooler air, but rain chances remain minimal through the end of the week.
