Ion Sky and Flipside to Headline Dunkirk Pier’s Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series
DUNKIRK, NY — The city’s beloved Music on the Pier Summer Concert Series continues tonight with a high-energy Dance Night featuring local favorites Ion Sky and veteran performers Flipside. The free show will take place at the Dunkirk Pier from 6 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., offering a blend of live music, food trucks, and community fun.
Ion Sky: Local Stars on the Rise
Formed in 2010, Ion Sky has become one of Dunkirk’s most celebrated bands, earning accolades such as Chautauqua County Reader’s Choice Best Local Band in 2023 and 2024. The group also secured recognition in the Buffalo News Best of 716 Awards, where they were voted a Favorite for Best Live Music of 2024.
The four-piece band features Tara Graves (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, keys), Barry Edwards (lead guitar, vocals), Jack Pasquale (bass, vocals), and Bradley Heath (drums, cajon, vocals). Their style mixes rock, country, pop, and alternative, with influences ranging from Cee-Lo Green and Dua Lipa to Journey and the Rolling Stones, making them a versatile favorite for local audiences.
Flipside: Decades of High-Energy Entertainment
Headlining the night is Flipside, a band formed in West Seneca more than 35 years ago. Known for their interactive shows and genre-spanning setlists, Flipside has entertained generations of Western New York audiences with a unique mix of classic rock, pop, and dance music.
The current lineup includes Mark Christy (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards), John Lajoie (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Satkievich (bass, vocals), and Davey Genau (drums, percussion, vocals). Over the years, the band has collected multiple awards, including Best Classic Rock Band and Best Pop Rock Band honors from the Buffalo Music Awards and Buffalo Nightlife Magazine.

The Dunkirk Pier event will also feature food trucks, local vendors, and the city’s beverage tent. Visitors can enjoy additional dining and shopping options at the Dunkirk Boardwalk Marketplace and surrounding harborfront businesses.
