Rain Chances Into Labor Day

Rain showers are continuing across western and southern Iowa, with localized heavy rain possible through the evening. According to forecasters, isolated thunderstorms are expected to wind down later tonight.

On Labor Day Monday, southern and western parts of the state will likely see lingering showers into midday before skies begin to clear in the afternoon. Meanwhile, northern and eastern Iowa will start with cloudy skies and scattered showers before conditions improve later in the day.

High temperatures statewide are expected to remain in the mid-70s, providing a milder setting for outdoor gatherings and end-of-summer events.

Behind the front, highs will dip into the 60s by Thursday, marking one of the first cool stretches of the fall season.

A second cold front is projected to arrive overnight Thursday into Friday, bringing additional showers and breezy conditions.
