Jessica Simpson Keeps Her Cool During Live Wardrobe Malfunction on ‘Today’ Show

CHICAGO — Pop star and entrepreneur Jessica Simpson proved she’s still a seasoned performer after calmly handling a wardrobe malfunction during her live appearance on NBC’s Today show Wednesday morning.

While belting out a medley of nostalgic hits as part of the Citi Concert Series, Simpson’s corset-style pink satin top slipped slightly, revealing a glimpse of her pink bra. The incident happened mid-performance but didn’t faze the singer, who carried on like a pro.

“Of course, I have, like, a malfunction here and everywhere. But it’s OK,” she joked afterward. “I think my boob stayed in, so that’s good.”

Returning to the Stage With “Nashville Canyon”

This high-profile performance marks Simpson’s musical comeback after more than a decade. In March, she released “Nashville Canyon, Part 1,” the first installment of her two-part country-influenced EP. During the Today performance, she mixed fan favorites like “I Think I’m in Love with You” and “With You” with new material including “Fade” from the upcoming Part 2, due in September.

She also performed her 2005 hit “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.”

Healing Through Songwriting After Personal Change

During her sit-down with Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager, Simpson opened up about how songwriting helped her cope with a turbulent period in her life.

“It was incredibly healing,” she said. “My life literally flipped upside down, and I really just had to focus on my purpose.”

In January, Simpson revealed that she and husband Eric Johnson were living separately after 10 years of marriage. The couple shares three children — Maxwell Drew (13), Ace Knute (12), and Birdie Mae (6).

Despite the personal challenges, Simpson credits her band, her Nashville collaborators, and her fans for helping her reclaim her voice.

“Music saved my life. Nashville saved my life,” she said.

A Lighthearted Comeback Moment

Despite the unexpected fashion mishap, Simpson’s grace and sense of humor stole the show. The incident has since gone viral on social media, with fans praising her for staying composed and relatable on live TV.

“Jessica Simpson surviving a wardrobe slip like a queen. That’s showbiz,” one fan tweeted.
