John Benjamin Davis Brings Pickers Anonymous LIVE to WDVX Blue Plate Special

KNOXVILLE, TN — Folk musician John Benjamin Davis is set to appear on WDVX’s Blue Plate Special with a live performance of Pickers Anonymous on September 4 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Visit Knoxville, 301 S. Gay Street. The event brings together history, tradition, and original songwriting in one of the city’s signature music showcases.

A Folk Musician Rooted in Tradition

Davis, a fiddler, banjoist, guitarist, and mandolinist, paints a vivid picture of his deep roots in the Chattanooga folk music scene. Drawing inspiration from John Hartford, Andrew Marlin, Norman Blake, Nora Brown, and close friend Nicholas Edward Williams, Davis channels a mix of historical tune preservation and original songwriting.

Whether he’s recounting the history of a 200-year-old fiddle tune or debuting an original composition, Davis aims to “both entertain and educate his audience.”

Blue Plate Special Legacy

The Blue Plate Special, hosted live at Visit Knoxville and broadcast by WDVX 89.9 FM, has long been a stage for showcasing emerging and established folk, country, and Americana musicians. Davis’ appearance continues that tradition, offering audiences a chance to hear his unique blend of old-time sounds and fresh creativity.
