Kentucky Police Searching for Suspect Who Caused Thousands in Damage During Break-In at Lawrenceburg Church

LAWRENCEBURG, KENTUCKY — Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly broke into the First Baptist Church on North Main Street and caused extensive damage to the sanctuary’s choir organ, leaving the congregation with thousands of dollars in repairs.

Break-In Occurred Before Dawn on November 27

According to the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the break-in happened in the early morning hours of November 27. Investigators say the individual unlawfully entered the church and targeted the choir area, where the historic organ was severely vandalized.

Police did not release specific details about how the suspect gained entry, but officers confirmed the costly damage was intentional and significant.

Police Release Images, Ask Community for Assistance

Authorities shared surveillance images in hopes that someone may recognize the suspect’s clothing, stance, or overall build. Because the church sits near Lawrenceburg’s busy town center, investigators believe someone may have seen the individual before or after the crime.

Detective Jeff Farmer is leading the investigation, and police say even small details could help move the case forward.

Anyone with information is urged to call 502-839-5125.

Church Community Left With Heavy Repair Costs

First Baptist Church leaders say the organ damage will require extensive repairs before regular worship services can fully resume. The instrument, which plays a central role in weekly services and seasonal music programs, sustained structural and mechanical harm during the break-in.

Police emphasized that the crime has impacted an important community space, and they are committed to finding the person responsible.
