LaMP Release New Vinyl ‘The Relix Session (Live from Garcia’s Chicago)’

CHICAGO, IL — Groove-driven trio LaMP — made up of Russ Lawton (drums), Scott Metzger (guitar), and Ray Paczkowski (keyboards) — have announced their latest project: a limited-edition vinyl release titled The Relix Session (Live from Garcia’s Chicago). Recorded over two nights on April 4–5, 2025, the album captures the band’s exploratory jams at Chicago’s brand-new Garcia’s Chicago, just weeks after the intimate 300-capacity venue opened its doors.

A Chicago First

The release holds special weight for Chicago’s live music scene: it is the first-ever recording made at Garcia’s Chicago, a new venue inspired by jam-band culture and named in honor of Jerry Garcia. LaMP’s performance blends funky grooves, melodic guitar runs, and playful keyboard lines, delivering the kind of improvisational energy that has become their hallmark.

Originals and Inspired Covers

The double-LP set mixes LaMP’s own material with carefully chosen covers that reflect the trio’s eclectic influences. Alongside originals from their 2020 self-titled debut and 2025’s One of Us, the tracklist includes:

  • “Allah Uya” — a tribute to Malian desert blues pioneer Ali Farka Touré
  • “Ramblin’” — a nod to free-jazz icon Ornette Coleman

By weaving these covers into their own catalog, LaMP expands their sonic palette while honoring artists who shaped their musical journey.
