Chicago, IL –January 4, 2019. Michael Poupko, director and teacher at the North Shore Music Institute for eight years, is opening a new school and live music agency for events.
Our Music Institute (OMI) will be located in the Chase building at 400 Central Ave in Northfield, IL under the credo “Our Community, Our Music and Our Education” and will serve the North Shore suburbs of Winnetka, Northfield, Northbrook, Glenview, Kenilworth, Wilmette, Glencoe and Highland Park.
“You can learn a lot from the Internet but music is about community and human interaction, according to Poupko. We offer students a fresh start to take music lessons in a contemporary setting. They can register for all classes and lessons online and there is a ‘parent portal’ that makes it possible for multiple family members to register as a family.”
Our Music Institute will be introducing classes and lessons for DJs, EDM production and mixing, creating beats and home studio recording. They will also specialize in lessons for traditional instruments and audition prep for high school and college/musical theater students.
Poupko also plans to expand his community involvement with new classes for young families and single professionals: the Music Together class will serve families with children under the age of five; Let’s Play will serve children ages 5-8; Maui To Motown is a ukulele club for adults; DJ School and the ABC’s of EDM will appeal to adolescents and young adults.
Our Music Institute will launch in February of 2019 under the direction of Michael Poupko. The mission is simple: our music, our community and our education. The OMI doesn’t just serve the community; they are part of it.
Our Music Institute will offer top-notch music and music technology instruction/lessons for all ages and levels (novice to professional) in both group and one-on-one settings. Classes in voice, DJ, piano, early childhood, beats, recording (Pro Tools, Logic, Abelton), guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, violin, viola, cello and songwriting will be presented.
Music is a means of self-expression and a way to connect with others. As the former director of the North Shore Music Institute in Northfield, IL, Michael Poupko has been involved with the community as a member of the board of directors for the Winnetka Northfield Chamber of Commerce and as a partner to the Winnetka and Northfield Park Districts as well as the New Trier Extension Program. With Our Music Institute, he and his superb team of professional music instructors plan to expand their community relationships.
