Lollapalooza is once again upon us with another great lineup and here are a few tips to bare in mind before you go to make it the best Lollapalooza experience possible!
DO – Stay hydrated! It goes without saying that this is the number 1 best thing you can do while attending Lollapalooza (or any festival) no matter how hot or cool it may happen to be on any given day. Lollapalooza offers many camelback hydration stations throughout the grounds, so be sure to download the Lollapalooza app and pick up a printed copy of the map upon arrival so you’ll be able to find them easily.
DO NOT – Bring bottled water already filled, security will ask you to pour it out before entering the festival.
DO – Download the Lollapalooza app! The best way to stay informed is to keep the app on your phone. Whether it is a change in the lineup to an emergency weather update, you NEED the app. It is also a great tool to help keep your personal schedule available to you at a glance.
DO – Wear sunscreen! Is also goes without saying that four days in the sun is going to fry you to a crisp… hell, I got burned one day when there was barely any sun (yeah, I don’t get out much). So, make sure you have plenty of sunscreen for your four day experience. If you run out, they sell sunscreen at the Lollapalooza Bodega, so, Lollapalooza has you covered, literally. Hats and sunglasses are also a major plus!
DO – Familiarize yourself with the new bag policy at Lollapalooza this year, please review the image below, but the best bet is to travel light.
DO – Bring a poncho. Umbrellas are great, but ponchos give you the most coverage and are the easiest to store when not in use and umbrellas are not allowed. According to the latest weather prediction from NBCChicago.com, it looks like we’ll have good weather Thursday through Saturday, but they’re predicting afternoon thunderstorms for Sunday.
DO – Wear comfortable sneakers. You’re going to be walking A LOT, and standing A LOT. Keep that in mind.
DO NOT – Leave your garbage on the ground after you leave an area. Pick up after yourself… you don’t really need to be reminded of this though, right?
DO NOT – Wear flip flops or sandals. Your feet can get stepped on, or it can get very, very muddy.
DO – Watch out for people around you if it looks like they’re in any need of assistance and make sure you register your wristband and fill out emergency contact information, just in case. It is always better to be prepared no matter what you do.
DO – Register your wristband for Lolla Cashless (Presented by Citi) ahead of time. Better to not fumble around with cash or credit cards when you can simply pay with your wristband at bars, food vendors and merchandise tents.
DO NOT – Bring professional cameras, frisbees, drones, hammocks or any inflatable furniture. For a complete list, visit here
DO NOT – Cause problems for anyone around you or any of the people working the merchandise tents, or any of the vendors. Hey, lets have a great time here and make it a pleasant one for those around you too!
