Stan Lynch’s New Band The Speaker Wars Announces First Live Shows in Texas

CHICAGO — After decades behind the kit with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, drummer Stan Lynch is officially returning to the stage — this time with his own band, The Speaker Wars. The group has just announced its first-ever live performances, scheduled for September 5–7 in Texas.
Teaming up with Jon Christopher Davis on vocals and guitar, The Speaker Wars will kick off the mini-tour on:
- Sept. 5 – Austin
- Sept. 6 – Houston
- Sept. 7 – Dallas
Tickets are on sale now, and fans can expect a tight blend of rock authority and soulful performance from the newly formed group.
A New Era for a Rock Legend
“This band has the sound of raw authority,” Lynch shared in a recent interview.
“Once we got The Speaker Wars in a room, we locked the door and said no one’s leaving. It’s that strong, and it’s good to have my old job back.”
Known for his powerful style with the Heartbreakers, Lynch now joins forces with seasoned musicians including:
- Jay Michael Smith – Guitar
- Brian Patterson – Bass
- Steve Ritter – Percussion
- Jay Brown – Keyboards
The band dropped their self-titled debut album this past May, marking a fresh beginning for Lynch while staying grounded in the rock roots that made him a household name.
Live Chemistry You Don’t Want to Miss
Frontman Davis also expressed excitement about sharing the stage with Lynch again:
“Playin’ live with Lynch is like slippin’ on a seasoned pair of Levi’s. Smooth, effortlessly-cool, fun, trusty, perfect.”
The tour may be brief for now, but the buzz around the Speaker Wars’ studio-recorded chemistry suggests their live show could quickly build into something larger — perhaps even a national run.
