Tame Impala Returns With “End of Summer,” Their First Standalone Song in Years

CHICAGO — Australian psychedelic pop-rock project Tame Impala is back with a fresh standalone track, “End of Summer,” marking a major return for fans who’ve waited years for new solo material. Released via Columbia Records, the dreamy 7-minute track also arrives with a visually rich split-screen music video directed by Julian Klincewicz.
The release follows weeks of speculation after frontman Kevin Parker teased studio footage on Instagram with the caption “Been busy.”
Tame Impala’s First Solo Song Since 2023
“End of Summer” is Tame Impala’s first proper solo release since “Journey to the Real World” (2023), which appeared on Barbie: The Album. Although Parker has remained musically active, much of his recent output has been for film soundtracks or high-profile collaborations. This new song signals a shift back to his own creative lane.
A Look at Kevin Parker’s Collaborations Since 2020
While solo Tame Impala songs have been rare, Kevin Parker has been anything but quiet. His collaborations over the past few years have included:
- “Wings of Time” for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
- “Turn Up the Sunshine” with Diana Ross for Minions: The Rise of Gru
- “Edge of Reality” remix for Elvis
- “No More Lies” with Thundercat
- “New Gold” with Gorillaz
- “Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better” with The Streets
He also teamed up with Justice on the Grammy-winning “Neverender,” and served as a producer for Dua Lipa’s 2024 album Radical Optimism.
Grammy Recognition and a New Era
In early 2025, Parker earned his first-ever Grammy win with Justice for “Neverender” in the Best Dance/Electronic Recording category. That momentum carries into “End of Summer,” a track that blends signature synths, swirling textures, and reflective lyrics into what many fans are calling a return to form.

The music video — directed by frequent Parker collaborator Julian Klincewicz — leans into visual nostalgia and seasonal transition, mirroring the track’s tone. Shot in a split-screen format, the video echoes the emotional tension and dreamy duality of the song’s production.

What’s Next for Tame Impala?
While there’s been no official word on a full-length album, the release of “End of Summer” hints at more to come. With Columbia Records now backing the project, fans are hopeful that this marks the start of a new Tame Impala album cycle — potentially their first since 2020’s The Slow Rush.
