The Who Postpone Philadelphia and Atlantic City “The Song Is Over” Farewell Concerts

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Legendary British rock band The Who has postponed their planned farewell concerts in Philadelphia and Atlantic City due to illness, delaying two of the most anticipated stops on their “The Song Is Over — North American Farewell Tour.”
Philadelphia Show Called Off
The Philadelphia concert, originally scheduled for Thursday at Xfinity Mobile Arena (formerly the Wells Fargo Center), was meant to mark The Who’s final-ever performance in the city. The venue announced on social media that both the band and arena staff are working “quickly to schedule a new date.”
Fans who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster have been advised to hold on to them, as they will remain valid once the concert is rescheduled.
Atlantic City Also Delayed
A similar announcement came from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, where The Who had been scheduled to perform Saturday night. That show, too, has been postponed due to illness, with no makeup date announced yet.
The Atlantic City stop was slated to follow a day off on Friday, part of the band’s carefully structured 16-city tour.
A Tour Marking the End of an Era
The “Song Is Over” Farewell Tour, named after the band’s 1971 track from Who’s Next, began August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, and is intended to be The Who’s final full-scale North American outing. Led by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, the tour celebrates more than six decades of groundbreaking music, from classics like “Baba O’Riley” and “My Generation” to deeper cuts cherished by lifelong fans.
For Philadelphia, the postponement is especially significant, as the show was advertised as the band’s last chance to play in the city — a market that has supported The Who since their first U.S. tours during the 1960s British Invasion.
Looking Ahead
While the postponed shows are disappointing for fans, rescheduled dates are expected soon. The remainder of the tour is still on the books, with stops in major cities across North America continuing through the fall.
The Who’s legacy as one of rock’s most influential acts remains undiminished, and the upcoming rescheduled concerts will no doubt carry even greater emotional weight as part of their final goodbye.
