University of Kentucky Football Player Jamarion Wilcox Arrested on Sexual Abuse Charge

LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky running back Jamarion Wilcox, 21, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree sexual abuse following an investigation by the Lexington Police Department.

Report of Assault in August

Police records show that on August 20, officers received a report of unwanted sexual contact at a residence in the 500 block of South Upper Street in Lexington.

A judge later granted an emergency protective order against Wilcox, according to WKYT News.

Arrest and Charges

On Friday, Wilcox was formally arrested and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center, where he is being held on the sexual abuse charge.

Detectives with the Special Victims Section are continuing the investigation and are encouraging anyone with information to call 859-258-3600 or submit an anonymous tip to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers.

UK Football Response

A spokesperson for UK Athletics released a statement acknowledging the arrest:

“We are aware of the situation with Jamarion and will continue to gather information and monitor the situation closely. He will continue to be withheld from competition and will not travel to South Carolina.”

Head coach Mark Stoops confirmed in early September that Wilcox had already been suspended for violating a team rule. He has not played this season but remains listed on the official roster.

Wilcox was a key part of the Wildcats’ offense in 2024, leading the team in rushing with 590 yards.
