Wisconsin Storage Unit Burglary Investigation Leads to Felony Charges for Minnesota Pair, Investigators Recover Stolen Property

POLK COUNTY, WI — A multi-county burglary investigation stretching from Wisconsin into Minnesota has intensified, as two suspects from Wyoming, Minnesota now face formal felony charges connected to a storage unit break-in in St. Croix Falls. Authorities say the pair transported stolen items across state lines before police recovered the property during coordinated searches.

Investigators Recover Stolen Items After Coordinated Search Warrants

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, deputies executed multiple search warrants in partnership with law enforcement in Chisago County, Minnesota, where they located items linked to a burglary at a St. Croix Falls storage unit. Authorities say the stolen property was transported from Wisconsin into Minnesota before being recovered.

The investigation led to criminal charges against Danial Hess, 37, and Anna Ganley, 36, both residents of Wyoming, Minnesota.

Suspects Face Felony Burglary and Theft-Related Charges

Court records show that Hess is now facing two dozen criminal charges across four separate cases in Polk County — several involving burglary and property crimes. Ganley has also been charged in the Polk County case and previously entered a deferred prosecution agreement for a felony receipt of stolen property charge in Burnett County.

Officials say both defendants played roles in the theft and movement of stolen items, though the full scope of their involvement is still under review by prosecutors.

Interstate Coordination Plays Key Role in Case

The two-state investigation highlights growing cooperation among regional agencies as property-related crimes increasingly cross county and state lines. Authorities say collaboration between Polk County deputies and Chisago County law enforcement was essential in recovering the stolen items and building the case against the suspects.

Additional court dates are expected as the burglary case moves forward in Polk County Circuit Court.
