‘Wonderwall’ Live Again: Oasis Thrills 60,000 at Soldier Field Reunion Show

CHICAGO, Illinois — British rock legends Oasis brought their long-awaited reunion tour to Soldier Field Thursday night, delivering their first U.S. concert since 2009 and sending fans into a frenzy of nostalgia, singalongs, and celebration.
A Historic Night in Chicago
The sold-out concert kicked off at 7:30 p.m. and marked one of only three U.S. stops on the band’s world tour. Fans traveled from across the country for the chance to see the Gallagher brothers back together after more than a decade apart.
“I saw them in 1994 on their first tour at a club in Boston called Local 186,” said one fan, Brian. “I never thought I’d be able to see them again. When this got announced, my son texted me, and we got tickets immediately.”
Jennifer Weinberg, another attendee, added: “I’ve been to probably hundreds of concerts in my lifetime, and I cannot remember a show where the crowd had so much energy from start to finish.”
The Gallaghers Reunited
Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis rose to become one of the defining rock acts of the 1990s with anthems like “Wonderwall,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Champagne Supernova,” and “Slide Away.”
Their meteoric success was fueled not only by their songwriting but also by the fiery relationship between siblings Liam and Noel Gallagher. The band officially split in 2009 after a notorious backstage fight in Paris ended with Noel’s guitar smashed.
On Thursday in Chicago, however, the brothers set aside their feud, stepping on stage together as the crowd roared. For many, it was a moment fans thought they’d never see again.
A Tour Years in the Making
The North American leg of the reunion tour began in Toronto on August 24, with Chicago as the second stop before East Rutherford, Pasadena, and Mexico City.
Despite years of public feuding, Liam Gallagher hinted in past interviews that he wanted reconciliation, once saying, “The most important thing is about me and him being brothers… I didn’t join the band to make money. I joined to have fun and to see the world.”
Thursday’s performance proved that, at least for now, Oasis is back together to give fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for.
A Night Fans Won’t Forget
With Soldier Field echoing to the sound of tens of thousands singing along, Oasis’s Chicago stop was more than just a concert — it was a musical milestone. For longtime fans, it was the return of one of rock’s greatest acts; for younger audiences, it was a rare chance to experience the band’s legendary sound live.
Oasis’s reunion at Soldier Field has reminded the world of the enduring power of their music — and for fans, the hope that the brothers’ return to the stage may last well beyond this tour. Stay connected with ChicagoMusicGuide.com for more coverage of major concerts, reunions, and festival events.
