17-Year-Old Charged With Murder After 15-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed at House Party With Nearly 100 Teens in Attendance

WEST BABYLON, NEW YORK — A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing 15-year-old Liam Delemo to death during a massive house party that drew nearly 100 teenagers, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The deadly altercation occurred on November 3 at a home in West Babylon, where a teenage resident hosted a large party that escalated into chaos when a fight broke out around 10:30 p.m.

Fight Turns Deadly at Packed Teen Gathering

Authorities said that during the confrontation, the suspect — whose name has not been released due to his age — allegedly stabbed Delemo in front of dozens of witnesses.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but died during surgery from his injuries. He was just weeks away from his 16th birthday, police confirmed.

“This was a tragic and senseless act of violence,” a Suffolk County Police spokesperson said following the arrest.

Detectives said between 90 and 100 teenagers were at the home when the stabbing occurred. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with panicked partygoers running into the street as police and EMTs arrived.

Victim Remembered as Kind and Charismatic

Delemo, a student at West Babylon High School, has been remembered by classmates and teachers as a friendly and outgoing teen who loved sports and music.

Following his death, the high school delayed opening to allow staff and students to access grief counselors. A GoFundMe campaign launched by family friends described Delemo as “a light in every room” and expressed heartbreak over his loss.

Suspect and Homeowner Facing Charges

The 17-year-old suspect, who lives in Syosset in neighboring Nassau County, was arraigned Monday in Suffolk County’s First District Court, charged as a juvenile offender with second-degree murder.

In addition, police charged 70-year-old Bonnie Miranda, the grandmother of the teen who hosted the party, with violating Suffolk County’s Social Host Law and endangering the welfare of a child. Authorities said she allowed the large, unsupervised gathering to take place at her home.

“Adults must be held accountable when they create an environment that enables underage drinking and puts children at risk,” police said in a statement.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue interviewing attendees and reviewing footage from the party. Authorities urged anyone with information or videos to contact the Suffolk County Homicide Squad.
