MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA – Police have arrested a 19-year-old Aplington man following a violent robbery at a Marshalltown park that left two people injured. Authorities say the suspect now faces multiple felony charges, including attempted murder.

Robbery Turns Violent at Nicholson Ford Park

The incident occurred Tuesday night at Nicholson Ford Park on Marion Street, where Nicholas Olivares allegedly targeted two victims during a robbery. According to police, Olivares shot one person and struck a second victim in the head with a handgun.

Both individuals were robbed of their belongings before the suspect fled the scene. Authorities later confirmed that the victims had been deliberately targeted in the attack.

After an investigation, Olivares was arrested and taken into custody. The charges he faces include:
