82-year-old Florida Man and Dog Survive Wild Boar That Crashed Through Glass Door

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — An 82-year-old Florida man and his dog survived a terrifying encounter last week when a 300-pound wild boar crashed through the glass door of their home and refused to leave, according to News4Jax.
“It Felt Like a Bomb Went Off”
Edward Wells said he was enjoying a quiet evening with a drink in hand and a puzzle on his iPad when the massive boar suddenly burst through his sliding glass door.
“At first I thought my home was being bombed,” Wells said. His daughter, Stacy, added: “Life got crazy!”
Dog Injured in Attack
The boar immediately attacked Wells’ dog, Bailey, before standing its ground in the middle of the living room.
“For about half an hour, 45 minutes, the pig just stood there,” Wells recalled.
Bailey required stitches but is expected to make a full recovery.
Deputies Confront the Boar
When Wells realized the animal would not leave, he called the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Body camera video shows deputies struggling to wrangle the massive boar as it charged around the house.
“Good for them guys, man. I wouldn’t want to be doing that,” Wells said.
Despite their efforts, the boar eventually escaped the home and remains on the loose.
Officials Issue Warning
Authorities are warning residents to avoid approaching the animal if spotted. Wild boars are known to be aggressive and unpredictable, particularly when they feel cornered.
For Wells and Bailey, life has slowly returned to normal. But for Lee County residents, the rogue boar remains a threat.
The unusual encounter underscores the dangers posed by Florida’s growing wild hog population. For more Florida wildlife and community safety updates, follow ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
