Metallica to Launch SiriusXM Channel with Exclusive NY Concert at Stephen Talkhouse

NEW YORK — Rock legends Metallica are turning up the volume this summer with the launch of Maximum Metallica, a brand-new, year-round SiriusXM channel that celebrates the band’s legacy — and they’re kicking things off with an ultra-exclusive live concert in Amagansett, New York.

Maximum Metallica Channel Launches August 29

Maximum Metallica will debut on Friday, August 29 at 12 p.m. ET on Channel 42 and via the SiriusXM app and web player. The station promises “The Most Metallica Anywhere,” featuring everything from the band’s greatest hits and deep cuts to rare recordings, live shows, and behind-the-scenes stories curated by the band themselves.

In a statement shared during a live appearance on The Howard Stern Show, drummer Lars Ulrich unveiled the channel, adding that the entire month of September will be free to preview for all SiriusXM-equipped vehicles — no subscription needed.

Intimate Concert Set for August 28 in Amagansett

To celebrate the launch, SiriusXM and Hertz are presenting a special Metallica concert at the Stephen Talkhouse, a cozy venue in the Hamptons that’s hosted major stars in small settings. The concert, scheduled for Thursday, August 28, will offer fans a chance to see Metallica in a rare, intimate space — a far cry from their usual stadium-scale performances.

The show will be attended by a limited number of SiriusXM subscribers selected via sweepstakes. It will then premiere on SiriusXM on Monday, September 1 at 12 p.m. ET, with multiple rebroadcasts throughout the week. The Howard 101 channel will also air the full concert on Friday, September 5 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

What to Expect from the Channel

The Maximum Metallica channel will showcase:

  • Fan-favorite hits and deep cuts
  • Live concert recordings
  • Band commentary and exclusive interviews
  • Unreleased material and curated surprises

Whether you’ve followed them since “Kill ’Em All” or jumped aboard during “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct,” this channel is built as a non-stop Metallica fan experience.

A Legacy of Small-Stage Legends

Metallica joins an elite group of artists who’ve played the Talkhouse for SiriusXM, including Coldplay, Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, Ed Sheeran, and Jelly Roll. These shows offer a stripped-down experience where artists connect closely with fans — something Metallica hasn’t done often in recent decades.

Want to experience Metallica like never before? Mark your calendars for August 29 and get ready to enter the world of Maximum Metallica.
