Video of Man Beating Woman at Rüfüs Du Sol Rose Bowl Show Sparks Outrage

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – A Rüfüs Du Sol concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium descended into chaos Saturday night when a man was captured on video brutally assaulting a woman in the stands, prompting widespread outrage and raising questions about security and crowd management at the sold-out show.
What Happened Inside the Rose Bowl
Footage shared by music platform Festive Owl shows a man knocking a woman to the ground and repeatedly punching her as nearby fans attempted to intervene. The incident occurred in Section 12-H, Row 20 of the venue, just as the show was getting underway.
According to a statement the woman shared with Festive Owl, the man became enraged after a drink was spilled on him earlier in the evening. Despite apologies, he accused the woman’s group of doing it intentionally. He stormed off but returned 30 minutes later screaming and threatening violence before launching into the attack.
“I tried to calm the situation and apologized again — and the next thing I remember I woke up in a medical tent an hour later and missed the entire show,” the victim wrote. She also revealed that the punches left her briefly unconscious and bleeding, and she is now seeking public help to identify the attacker.

Band and Organizers Respond
On Monday night, Rüfüs Du Sol released a statement saying they were “heartbroken” over the incident and encouraged anyone with information to contact the Pasadena Police Department.
“This type of behavior is completely unacceptable anywhere, and the fact that this happened at one of our shows was devastating to hear about,” the group stated. “Local law enforcement is actively investigating the situation.”
While the band expressed empathy, concert organizers and security staff came under sharp criticism. Fans reported long entry lines, overcrowding, and a lack of crowd control, with some describing the atmosphere as unsafe.
Fan Concerns Over Safety
Attendees voiced strong frustrations on social media and local news outlets. One fan told NBC4 that the event was “a circus” and compared the conditions to Astroworld 2021, when a crowd crush left 10 people dead.
Another attendee, Christina Molina, told KTLA that walkways were dangerously overcrowded: “I literally had people pressed up against my back, all of them blocking that entire walkway. Crowd control was nonexistent.”
The complaints highlighted the tension between hosting massive arena-scale electronic music events and ensuring fan safety. The Rose Bowl, with a capacity exceeding 90,000, has hosted some of the biggest shows in Los Angeles history, but the chaos of Saturday’s concert has left many demanding stronger oversight.
Broader Pattern of Concert Safety Issues
The Rose Bowl incident is the latest in a troubling series of violence and safety lapses at concerts. Just days before, a violent fan brawl broke out at an Angels-Dodgers game in Anaheim, and earlier this month, a fan fell to his death at an Oasis show in London’s Wembley Stadium.
Music events, from Billie Eilish shows where fans have hurled objects at the stage to large-scale festivals struggling with crowd surges, continue to face challenges balancing fan excitement with safety precautions.
A Call for Accountability
As investigations continue, the focus now shifts to what security measures can be improved at future shows. For many fans, the Rüfüs Du Sol concert should have been a milestone in Los Angeles’ thriving electronic music culture, but instead it has become a stark reminder of how quickly a celebration can turn unsafe.
The victim’s plea for help identifying her attacker underscores the urgent need for accountability—not just from individuals but also from venues, promoters, and organizers.
