Lexington Police Arrest 20-Year-Old After Officer-Involved Shooting on Lakeshore Drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A 20-year-old man has been arrested following an officer-involved shooting early Monday morning on Lakeshore Drive, according to the Lexington Police Department.

Robbery Call Leads to Pursuit

Police said the incident began around 2 a.m. when officers responded to a reported robbery in the 2000 block of Cambridge Drive. Upon arrival, they learned that a vehicle had been stolen. Officers later located the car at an apartment complex on the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive.

Suspect Confrontation

When approached, the suspect — identified as Jaylin Clark — allegedly fled on foot while carrying a rifle. During the chase, police reported that Clark fired the weapon, prompting an officer to return fire with his service firearm.

Authorities confirmed that no one was struck by gunfire, though Clark sustained minor injuries during the foot pursuit.

Charges Filed

After being treated at a local hospital, Clark was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including:

  • First-degree wanton endangerment (police officer)
  • Third-degree carjacking
  • Fleeing or evading police
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Outstanding warrant (unrelated)

Investigation Ongoing

The officer involved has been placed on administrative assignment while the incident is investigated, in line with department policy for officer-involved shootings.
