UW-Madison Police Issue Warrant for Suspect in Violent Attack Near Camp Randall Stadium

MADISON, Wis. — University of Wisconsin-Madison police are actively searching for a suspect accused of carrying out a violent, unprovoked attack near Camp Randall Stadium, leaving a victim critically injured.

Early Morning Assault

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sept. 20 in the parking lot at 15 Breese Terrace, next to the stadium. Police described the attack as “unprovoked” and targeted, though they have not released additional details about a possible motive.

The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Suspect Identified as Keith A. Jones

Authorities identified the suspect as Keith A. Jones, who now faces an active warrant for aggravated assault. Jones is described as:

  • 5’7” tall, 185 pounds
  • Black hair and brown eyes
  • Last seen wearing a lighter-colored hat, black hoodie, black shorts, black shoes, and long dark socks

Police added that he may also have been wearing a “BEST” security uniform and carrying a radio at the time of the attack.

Police Warn Public Not to Approach

UWPD is urging anyone who sees Jones not to approach him, as he may be dangerous. Instead, witnesses should immediately call 911.

Community on Edge Ahead of Football Game

The attack comes just days before Wisconsin is set to host Maryland in an 11 a.m. football game on Sept. 20 at Camp Randall Stadium. Police have not confirmed whether security measures will be heightened during the event.
