Louisville Man Dies Two Weeks After Being Struck on I-265 Shoulder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man has died two weeks after being struck by a car while standing on the shoulder of Interstate 265, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD).

Crash Near Blue Lick Overpass

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. on Sept. 5 along I-265 North near the Blue Lick Overpass. Police said the man had pulled over due to a disabled vehicle and attempted to cross toward the shoulder.

While standing near the roadway, he was hit by a car that swerved to avoid both a commercial vehicle and the man’s disabled car.

Victim Hospitalized, Later Dies

Emergency crews transported the man to UofL Hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, he died on Friday, Sept. 19. His identity has not yet been released by authorities.

Investigation Underway

The incident is under investigation by the LMPD Traffic Unit, which continues to review the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision. No charges have been announced.
