Oak Grove Woman Arrested After Children Found in Apartment With Feces on Walls

OAK GROVE, KY — A Kentucky woman has been charged with wanton endangerment after authorities discovered her and three children living in what police described as filthy and unsafe conditions.
DCBS Call Leads Police to Apartment
On September 18, a Department for Community Based Services (DCBS) worker contacted Oak Grove Police about a Meadow Lane apartment following a complaint.
When officers entered, they reported being met with an overwhelming smell of feces. Clothing, trash, and debris littered the floor, making it difficult to walk through the home.
According to the criminal complaint, there was feces smeared on the walls and even on the bed.
Mother’s Explanation
The woman, identified as Jessica Reeve, 36, allegedly told police her children had developed a habit of smearing feces on the walls.
“Throughout the whole apartment, there were no clean surfaces for children to play, sit or sleep,” an Oak Grove Police sergeant wrote in the report.
Reeve confirmed that she lived in the apartment with her two 10-year-olds and a 6-year-old.
History of Similar Incidents
This is not Reeve’s first run-in with law enforcement over unsafe living conditions.
In 2024, she was charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment after allegedly leaving one autistic child home alone in unsafe conditions and allowing another to run into traffic on a busy roadway.
Arrest and Charges
Following the latest discovery, Reeve was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
She was booked into the Christian County Jail with bond set at $15,000.
Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
The case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by child protection services and law enforcement when children are found in hazardous living environments.
