Joliet Township Violence: 66-Year-Old Man Shot, Another Stabbed in Will County Incident

JOLIET TOWNSHIP, Illinois — Two men were hospitalized Tuesday morning after a violent incident involving both a shooting and a stabbing on Elgin Avenue, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies Respond to Gunfire on Elgin Avenue

Authorities said deputies were dispatched around 11:45 a.m. September 30 to the 1400 block of Elgin Avenue after reports of gunfire.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 66-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was given emergency medical care by the East Joliet Fire Protection District and transported to a local hospital.

Second Victim Found With Stab Wound

While investigating the scene, deputies also discovered a second man who had been stabbed prior to their arrival. He, too, was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further care.

Authorities Say Case Is Isolated

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that investigators believe the case is an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the public.

Officials have not released details on what led to the stabbing and shooting, and the case remains under active investigation.
