One Dead, Another Injured After Early Morning Shooting in Beloit Home

BELOIT, Wisconsin — A deadly shooting inside a Beloit home early Thursday morning left one man dead and another wounded, according to the Beloit Police Department.
Police Respond to White Avenue Shooting
Authorities said officers responded around 3 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, to the 1500 block of White Avenue after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a 51-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital but later pronounced dead.
A second victim, a 41-year-old Beloit man, later arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound from the same incident. Police confirmed his injury was non-life threatening.
Shooting Happened Inside a Residence
Investigators said the gunfire occurred inside a residence where a group of people had gathered before the shooting. The exact circumstances surrounding what led to the violence remain under investigation.
Police have not yet released the names of the victims or confirmed whether any suspects have been identified.
First Homicide of 2025 in Beloit
The department noted this is the first homicide of 2025 in Beloit. By contrast, there were three homicides in the city during 2024, including the April 5 shooting of Jaiden Benitez, 20, the May 11 killing of Nikkita Gree, 49, and the December 26 shooting of Gregory Ashford inside a residence on Oak Street.
