Missouri Woman Arrested After Giving Ex-Lover a Cooler With Human Fetus Inside: “Here’s Your Kid,” She Said
WAYNESVILLE, MISSOURI – A 29-year-old Missouri woman was arrested after allegedly handing her former lover a cooler containing a human fetus, telling him, “Here’s your kid,” before driving away, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.
Disturbing Discovery Inside a Red-and-White Cooler
Authorities said Makayla Annette Haedt was charged with first-degree felony harassment after the shocking incident on September 18. Deputies were called to a home on the 18000 block of Laddie Lane at around 2:45 a.m., where a man reported finding what appeared to be a deceased fetus inside a small cooler sealed with green tape.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim told police that Haedt, whom he described as an on-and-off romantic partner, had previously claimed she was pregnant but that he “didn’t believe her” because she was a habitual liar.
The man said that on September 17, Haedt texted him claiming she had suffered a miscarriage, and later that day she stopped by his home, brought food, and handed him a red and white cooler, saying, “Here’s your kid.”
She then got in her car and drove away.
“He believed it was a cruel joke,” investigators wrote. “He assumed the cooler contained drinks but was afraid to open it.”
The man reportedly waited nearly two hours before calling a friend to come over. Together, they opened the cooler — and discovered what appeared to be a human fetus inside.
“This Is Something You See Online, Not in Real Life”
Deputies said the man appeared distraught and tearful when describing the scene.
“This is the type of thing you see on the internet all the time,” he told police. “You never think it will happen to you.”
Investigators confirmed the contents appeared to be human remains and contacted the Pulaski County coroner to collect the cooler for forensic testing.
Harassment Charge and $50,000 Bond
Authorities charged Haedt with first-degree harassment, alleging that she knowingly caused severe emotional distress to the victim.
Court documents show she was booked into the Watonwan County Jail and is currently being held on a $50,000 bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for October 28.
