Child Among Three Injured in Shooting Near Marquette University Campus Saturday Night

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — A 6-year-old child and two adults were hospitalized after a shooting near Marquette University’s campus Saturday night, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 7:45 p.m. near 19th and State Streets, just blocks from the university grounds. Police confirmed that a 6-year-old, 23-year-old, and 38-year-old were all shot and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said all three victims are expected to survive.

Shooting Near Marquette Campus Sparks Concern

Police have not released details about what led to the shooting or whether the victims had any connection to each other. The incident occurred in a busy area near Marquette University, prompting concern among students and residents.

“It’s scary — that’s so close to where we walk every day,” one student told local reporters. “We just want to feel safe around campus again.”

Police presence remained heavy at the scene Saturday night as investigators searched for evidence and canvassed nearby buildings.

Suspect Still at Large

As of Sunday morning, no suspects are in custody, and Milwaukee Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the shooter.
