Six People Injured, One Arrested in Series of Milwaukee Shootings on Monday

MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — A series of separate shootings across Milwaukee on Monday left six people injured and one man in custody, according to the Milwaukee Police Department. Authorities say the incidents occurred throughout the day in multiple neighborhoods, from the city’s north side to the west end.

Shooting After Crash at 71st and Capitol

Police say the first shooting occurred around 11:50 a.m. near 71st Street and Capitol Drive. A 35-year-old man was shot following a confrontation that happened after a crash.

Investigators said the suspect fired several rounds, striking the victim, who was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers later arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the incident. Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.

Two Afternoon Shootings Under Investigation

Around 2 p.m., officers responded to another shooting near 50th Street and Hampton Avenue, where a 35-year-old man was wounded and taken to the hospital with nonfatal injuries. Police say the circumstances remain under investigation.

Roughly an hour later, at 10th and Atkinson, a 59-year-old man was shot just after 3 p.m. and also taken to the hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about a suspect, and the case remains open.

Three Shot Late Monday Night at 35th and Eggert

The final and most violent incident of the day took place around 11:50 p.m. near 35th and Eggert Avenue, where three people were shot. Police said the victims — a 32-year-old, a 36-year-old, and a 50-year-old — were all taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect or suspects remain at large, and detectives continue to investigate what led to the gunfire.

As Milwaukee Police work through a string of ongoing investigations, officials are urging the public to come forward with any tips that could help identify those responsible.
