Michigan McDonald’s Customer Throws Hot Coffee on Manager During Argument, Police Seek Felony Charges

BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN — A heated confrontation inside a McDonald’s restaurant turned violent when a customer threw hot coffee on a manager after arguing about her order. The shocking incident, captured on video, has led to a felony assault case under review by prosecutors, police confirmed.

Customer Accuses Manager of ‘Lying’ Over Delayed Order

According to Buena Vista Township Police Detective Russ Pahssen, the customer had placed an online order and demanded a refund for two sandwiches she claimed were missing. Video shared by police shows the woman becoming increasingly agitated as she accused the manager of lying and complained she had been waiting for over an hour.

“You are not listening,” the manager said at one point.
“I’m listening,” the woman shot back, before the manager responded, “No, you are trying to argue with me.”

The tense exchange appeared to de-escalate briefly when the manager said, “You have a great day,” and began to walk away. But moments later, the woman removed the lid from her coffee cup and hurled it at the employee.

Police Identify Suspect After Viral Video Post

The Buena Vista Police Department posted the surveillance video on Facebook, asking for help identifying the suspect. Within minutes, tips from viewers led detectives to confirm her identity, MLive reported.

As she flung the drink, the customer could be heard shouting an obscenity-laced insult:

“F— you, b—–! Catch that hot a– coffee!”

Authorities said the manager suffered minor burns, and the suspect fled the restaurant before officers arrived.

Felony Assault Charges Requested

Detective Pahssen said police have forwarded paperwork to the local prosecutor’s office, recommending felony assault charges. As of Friday, investigators had not located the woman but indicated that a warrant request was in progress.

The viral footage has sparked strong reactions online, with many viewers expressing outrage over the attack on a fast-food worker simply trying to do her job.

Incidents like this highlight the daily challenges faced by service industry employees and the need for stronger protections against customer violence. For continued coverage of community news and public safety updates across Michigan, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
