Pantera Postpones Upstate NY Concert to Mourn Ozzy Osbourne’s Passing

TACOMA, WASHINGTON — Heavy metal icons Pantera have postponed their Saratoga Springs concert and canceled several other 2025 tour dates following the death of music legend Ozzy Osbourne. The band announced the changes Friday, calling Osbourne’s passing a “profound loss” and taking time to grieve the man they considered both a mentor and family.
Pantera Remembers Ozzy as More Than Just a Legend
The Grammy-nominated band shared an emotional tribute, stating:
“Ozzy wasn’t just a legend who shaped the very foundation of heavy metal and inspired Pantera from the beginning — he was family. A mentor, a brother, and a constant presence in our lives both on and off the stage.”
Ozzy Osbourne, known worldwide for his work with Black Sabbath and his solo career, died earlier this week at the age of 76. He had just wrapped what would be his final live performance with Black Sabbath earlier this month.
Concert Rescheduled Dates and Ticket Info
Pantera was originally scheduled to perform on Monday, July 28, at the Broadview Stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs, NY. That show has been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 9.
Likewise, a July 31 concert in Holmdel, New Jersey has been moved to Monday, September 8, to allow the band and crew time to mourn.
Tickets for both rescheduled concerts will be honored. Additional tickets are available through Ticketmaster, StubHub, and Vivid Seats.
Canceled Shows Following Schedule Shuffle
Due to the reshuffling, three concerts have been canceled outright:
- July 29 – Gilford, New Hampshire
- September 8 – Birmingham, Alabama
- September 10 – Virginia Beach, Virginia
Ticketmaster will issue automatic refunds for canceled shows, while those who purchased from third-party platforms are advised to contact the original seller.
A Legacy of Shared Stages and Sorrow
Pantera’s ties to Ozzy run deep. Touring guitarist Zakk Wylde played in Osbourne’s solo band for years, and Pantera performed at Ozzfest, collaborated with Osbourne’s bands, and shared the stage with him at his final performance.
Zakk Wylde wrote on Instagram:
“You brought light into so many lives and made the world a better place… I thank the good lord every day for blessing my life with you in it – I love you Oz.”
The band’s history has been marked by loss before. Founding guitarist Dimebag Darrell was tragically shot onstage in 2004, and his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul, died in 2018. The current lineup includes vocalist Phil Anselmo, bassist Rex Brown, Wylde on guitar, and Charlie Benante on drums.
Fans Show Support Amid Tour Disruptions
Fans have expressed understanding and support across social platforms, many reflecting on Osbourne’s influence on both Pantera and the genre at large.
The band added:
“We appreciate your understanding during this difficult time.”
