Arkansas Father Accused of Leaving Infant Alone on the Ground Outside Mother’s Home After Argument

JONESBORO, ARKANSAS — A 22-year-old Arkansas father is facing criminal charges after police say he left his infant son alone in a car seat on the ground outside the mother’s home — despite being told repeatedly that she wasn’t there.

Authorities say the baby was found crying, vomiting on himself, and sitting on the cold ground for nearly 30 minutes, sparking a felony child endangerment charge.

Police: Baby Found Crying on the Ground After Father Walked Away

According to a probable cause affidavit, the child’s mother returned to her home on Churchill Drive in Jonesboro on Nov. 6 and was shocked by what she saw.

Her infant son, still strapped into his car seat, had been placed on the ground directly in front of her door.

“The child had vomited on himself and was crying,” the affidavit stated.
She estimated he had been left outside alone for approximately half an hour.

The parents had reportedly argued over the phone just before the incident, and although the mother told the father several times that she was not home, police say he didn’t believe her.

“He Is Waiting on You”: Father Allegedly Ignored Warnings

During the call, police say Larry Donell Lee insisted he was returning the baby immediately and refused to wait.

The mother repeatedly told him not to leave the child unattended.

Lee allegedly told her, “He is waiting on you,” before abandoning the infant at the doorstep and driving away.

When she warned she would call the police, officers say Lee still left the child outside.

Authorities also noted Lee’s involvement in a recent child-support case regarding a 4-month-old child — an issue they are reviewing as part of the investigation.

Arrest, Charges, and No-Contact Order

Jonesboro Police arrested Lee on Tuesday. On Wednesday, a judge ruled there was probable cause to proceed with:

  • Felony child endangerment (risk of death or serious injury)
  • Misdemeanor failure to appear

A no-contact order has been issued preventing Lee from contacting the child or mother.

He is currently held in the Craighead County Jail on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 16.

Community Shocked by the Incident

Neighbors told local reporters they were stunned by the details, describing the situation as “heartbreaking,” especially considering the baby was left completely exposed on the ground.

The child has since been removed from immediate danger and is safe, according to authorities.
