Wisconsin Driver Hits 125 MPH and Leads Police on Multiple High-Speed Chases Before Arrest at Apartment Complex
MADISON, WISCONSIN — A Wisconsin man is facing felony charges after police say he tore across Dane County at speeds topping 125 mph, fled multiple traffic stops, and eventually abandoned his car at an apartment complex before being arrested early Saturday morning.
Early-Morning Chase Begins on U.S. 12
According to the Monona Police Department, the chaos began around 1:44 a.m. on November 22 when a sergeant attempted to stop a vehicle speeding westbound on U.S. 12 near Highway 51.
The driver slowed briefly — as if to pull over — before suddenly accelerating, cutting across lanes, and exiting at South Towne Drive. He then merged back onto U.S. 12, hitting speeds over 100 mph, forcing the sergeant to end the pursuit for safety reasons.
Multiple Police Agencies Spot Car Driving Recklessly
Minutes later, Madison Police notified Monona officers that the same vehicle was driving recklessly several miles ahead.
Officers spotted it again weaving through lanes and tried another stop. The driver fled eastbound on U.S. 12, exited at Rimrock Road, and the pursuit was terminated a second time.
Speeds Hit 125 MPH on U.S. 12
A short time later, a Monona officer clocked the vehicle at approximately 125 mph on eastbound U.S. 12 near Monona Drive. Police believe the driver had looped back onto the highway via John Nolen Drive.
Another agency attempted to deploy a tire deflation device, but the speeding vehicle avoided it. With the suspect far ahead and safety concerns escalating, officers ended the pursuit for a third time.
Dispatch later received information that the car had continued onto I-90.
Car Found Abandoned at Apartment Complex
At around 2:09 a.m., a Madison officer located the vehicle — unoccupied — at an apartment complex on Northport Drive.
Officers detained an individual who approached the vehicle and informed them the suspect had run inside a nearby apartment.
When police made contact at the residence, the suspect’s mother told her son to come out. The man complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
Suspect Identified, Was Already Out on Bond
Police identified the driver as Treydarius C. Rolack, 20, of Fitchburg. He was booked into the Dane County Jail on the following charges:
- Felony fleeing and eluding
- Second-degree recklessly endangering safety
- Outstanding Dane County warrant
He was also cited for:
- Reckless driving
- Violating a red signal
- Non-registration of a vehicle
Authorities say Rolack was already out on bond at the time of the incident.
Investigation Continues
The Monona Police Department says the case remains under review as officers assess video, witness accounts, and information from multiple agencies involved in the early-morning chase.
