Arizona Man Accused of Beating Woman ‘Beyond Recognition’ After She Used His Vape Without Permission

TEMPE, AZ — Prosecutors say a 32-year-old Tempe man carried out an “extremely vicious attack” against his romantic partner inside his apartment, beating her “beyond recognition” after discovering she had used his vape without permission.
Brutal Assault in Tempe Apartment
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, Nicholas Vincuillo allegedly became enraged on Sunday, September 21, when he saw the woman use his vape pen while he was in the shower.
Prosecutors say Vincuillo:
- Grabbed her and slammed her into a wall repeatedly
- Punched and strangled her until she nearly lost consciousness
- Threatened her with a firearm, pressing the barrel against her forehead
- Forced her to clean up blood and dispose of her clothing after the attack
During a bond hearing, prosecutor Dawn Sauer said, “The victim was beaten beyond recognition. She had 36 documented injuries to her head alone.”
A forensic nurse described the injuries as among the five worst cases she had ever seen.
Victim’s Escape
Police said the woman eventually managed to flee the apartment and drove to a nearby In-N-Out Burger, where she called for help.
Paramedics confirmed she suffered:
- Orbital fracture
- Fracture to her left hand
- Dozens of bruises and cuts across her head and body
Investigators also recovered a trash bag in the apartment complex’s compactor containing the woman’s clothing, a MacBook, iPhone, and cleaning wipes, which prosecutors allege Vincuillo tried to hide as evidence.
Alleged Threats and Past Violence
During the assault, Vincuillo allegedly told the victim he was connected to an outlaw motorcycle gang, a claim prosecutors believe he used to intimidate her.
Police noted that another domestic violence victim previously reported Vincuillo made the same gang claims during a separate case.
Court records show Vincuillo also has a history of domestic violence.
Charges and Bond
Vincuillo has been charged with multiple felonies, including:
- Aggravated assault
- Tampering with evidence
- Domestic violence-related charges
A Maricopa County judge set his bond at $250,000 cash-only.
This case has drawn widespread attention in Arizona, underscoring ongoing concerns about domestic violence and the devastating impact of unchecked rage and firearm threats inside households.
