BTS Star Jin’s Chicago Concert Hairband Sells Out After Soldier Field Appearance, Adding to a String of Fan-Driven Merch Rushes Tied to His Tour Looks

CHICAGO, IL — BTS member Jin set off another fast-moving merchandise rush after wearing a Pink Bean hairband during the second Chicago stop of the group’s “ARIRANG” world tour at Soldier Field on Aug. 29, Korean time.

The hairband, which features a MapleStory character, sold out the same day. Starnews Korea reported that the item is sold only at Lotte World Seoul and online, then restocked on Aug. 30 before climbing to the top of real-time, daily, weekly and monthly sales rankings and disappearing again.

The response reinforced the “Sold-Out King” label that fans and Korean entertainment coverage often attach to Jin whenever his wardrobe choices trigger quick demand.

How one concert look became a retail event

The Chicago show was not the first time Jin’s stage or campaign styling turned into a sales moment. Before the concert, the jacket he wore in a Gucci Primavera campaign ad sold out in less than 24 hours after it was released. A LLEGE T-shirt he wore on the first day of the Chicago concerts also sold out immediately.

That pattern has become part of the conversation around Jin’s solo appearances and BTS-related tour stops. Even small accessories can draw outsized attention when fans try to copy the exact look seen on stage or in promotional images, and the speed of those purchases can quickly empty inventory.

In Chicago, the hairband became the latest example of that effect. The product’s connection to a recognizable game character added to its appeal, while Jin’s appearance at Soldier Field gave it a fresh spotlight during one of the tour’s most visible U.S. dates.

Chicago trends followed Jin beyond the venue

The attention was not limited to merchandise sales. On the first day of the Chicago concerts, Jin also topped real-time trends on X in Korea. Hashtags and phrases including “JIN ECLIPSES CHICAGO,” “JIN IN THE WINDY CITY,” “#JIN_IN_CHICAGO_D1,” “#JIN_IN_CHICAGO_D2,” and “Kim Seokjin” appeared in real-time trends in multiple countries, including the United States, for two straight days.

That online momentum helped turn the Chicago stop into a broader fan moment, with social posts, concert fashion and sales data all feeding the same surge of attention. For many fans, the story was not just the performance itself but the way a single accessory could ripple into shopping and social media in nearly real time.

It also underlined how closely BTS members’ public appearances can intersect with the wider entertainment marketplace, especially when items are recognizable, limited or already linked to a major brand or fandom culture.

Los Angeles dates now follow the Chicago run

BTS is set to continue the “ARIRANG” world tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles from Sept. 2 to 3 and again on Sept. 6 to 7, Korean time. Those dates give fans another chance to watch whether Jin’s onstage styling prompts a similar reaction.

For now, the Chicago concerts have added one more example to a growing list of quick sellouts tied to his outfits and accessories. The pattern has become part of the appeal for fans who track not only the music, but also the items that briefly become part of the BTS spotlight.

With the tour moving from Chicago to Los Angeles, the attention surrounding Jin’s fashion choices is likely to travel with it.
