Caldwell County High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Fredonia Man

CALDWELL COUNTY, Ky. — A high-speed chase through Caldwell County ended Tuesday with the arrest of a Fredonia man, after deputies said the suspect fled a traffic stop and reached speeds of more than 90 miles per hour.

Traffic Violation Leads to Pursuit

According to the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy first spotted a vehicle illegally passing in a no-passing zone on Farmersville Road. When the deputy attempted a stop, the driver accelerated away, beginning the pursuit.

“The suspect ignored commands to pull over and instead sped onto West Fork Road, where speeds topped 90 mph,” deputies reported.

The chase continued through rural areas of Caldwell County before the driver was finally forced to stop.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Mathew Daniel Patton of Fredonia. Deputies confirmed that Patton was arrested at the scene without further incident and faces multiple traffic-related charges.

“The pursuit could have easily ended in tragedy given the speeds involved,” officials said. “Fortunately, no one was injured.”

Patton was booked into the Caldwell County Jail, where he awaits his initial court appearance.

Community Safety Concerns

High-speed pursuits remain a serious concern for law enforcement, especially in rural Kentucky where narrow roads and limited visibility increase the risk of accidents.

Local residents expressed relief that no injuries occurred during the chase.

“It’s scary to think someone would risk lives like that just to avoid a traffic stop,” one Caldwell County resident said.

Authorities emphasized that traffic enforcement is critical to protecting the community, and they encouraged drivers to comply with stops to prevent unnecessary danger.

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office said additional charges may be filed as the case moves forward. For more updates on regional safety and law enforcement news, visit ChicagoMusicGuide.com.
