Canadian Father Fatally Shot During Wisconsin Golf Trip Weeks After Celebrating Birth of Baby Girl

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, WI — A Canadian family is grieving after a 32-year-old father, who had just welcomed his first child last month, was fatally shot while on a golf trip in Wisconsin.
Shooting in Sheboygan Falls
The Sheboygan Falls Police Department identified the victim as Giovanni “Mike” Robinson of Ontario, Canada.
Police said the shooting happened on Wednesday, Sept. 24, just after midnight, in the 600 block of Monroe Street. Robinson had been walking back to his hotel after a night out with family and friends.
Investigators say the suspect fled in a small, dark SUV. No arrests have been made, and the motive remains unclear.
Celebrating a Golf Achievement
Robinson’s brother, Jacob Robinson, told WTMJ-TV that Giovanni had been celebrating his first hole-in-one at the Whistling Straits Golf Course earlier that evening.
After enjoying dinner and drinks, Giovanni was heading back to his hotel when the shooting occurred.
A Young Family Devastated
Robinson had just become a father in August 2025 when he and his wife, Rachel, welcomed their daughter, Farrah Margaret Robinson.
“He was a very good man, and he was an awesome brother. He was an even better husband,” Jacob said. “And he was going to be an amazing dad. He was excited to be a father.”
Jacob added that the hardest part is knowing Robinson’s daughter will grow up without her father:
“She’s only five weeks old, and she’s never really going to ever know her true father.”
Remembered as a Family Man and Athlete
A GoFundMe fundraiser organized by Robinson’s cousins describes him as a “true family man” who always prioritized loved ones.
He was also an avid hockey player, competing in the Ontario Hockey League and later playing professionally in Germany for the Hannover Scorpions.
Relatives remembered how Robinson met his wife Rachel in 2017, married her in 2022, and quickly embraced fatherhood.
“Mike was so excited to become a father,” his family wrote. “He dove right into his new role of ‘Dad’ and was a natural, just like we all knew he would be. It is the most heartbreaking to know he will never be able to hold his baby girl again.”
Police Investigation
The Sheboygan Falls Police Department has asked anyone with information about the case to call 920-467-7902.
In a statement, the department said:
“To maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, limited details will be released at this time.”
This tragedy has left both the Ontario and Wisconsin communities mourning, as the search for Robinson’s killer continues.
