Chicago’s 2026 Summer Festival Calendar Packs Music, Food and Art Into Grant Park, Millennium Park and Beyond
CHICAGO, IL — Chicago’s summer event calendar is filling up fast, with a mix of free performances, neighborhood art fairs, food festivals and major ticketed concerts spread across the city and nearby suburbs. The lineup runs from early June into mid-September, giving locals and visitors plenty of reasons to plan around weekends in the park.
Among the biggest draws are familiar return engagements such as Taste of Chicago, Lollapalooza, the Chicago Jazz Festival and the Air and Water Show, alongside free series at Millennium Park that keep music and movies in rotation all season long.
Free concerts, films and cultural staples set the tone
The season starts with the Chicago Blues Festival at Ramova Theatre and Millennium Park from June 4 through June 7, followed closely by the Old Town Art Fair on June 13 and 14 at the Old Town Triangle Center. Millennium Park’s Summer Music Series begins June 15 at Jay Pritzker Pavilion, with nine concerts scheduled on most Mondays and Thursdays.
Movie fans also get a steady slate through the Millennium Park Summer Film Series, which opens June 30 and continues every Tuesday through August 18. Later in the summer, the Chicago Gospel Music Festival lands at Jay Pritzker Pavilion on July 24 and 25, keeping the park a central stage for the city’s cultural calendar.
Food festivals and major crowd-pullers dominate July and August
Chicago’s best-known food event, Taste of Chicago, returns to Grant Park from July 8 through July 12. That same stretch also brings the Windy City Smokeout, which is back for its 13th year outside the United Center from July 8 through July 12.
Music fans then turn to Lollapalooza, which takes over Grant Park from July 30 through August 2, before Ravinia Music Festival resumes August 1 through September 19. The Chicago Air and Water Show follows at North Avenue Beach the weekend of August 15, keeping the city’s summer pace high well into midseason.
September keeps the schedule busy as Chicago closes out summer
The final stretch of the season still has plenty on tap. Chicago House Music Festival and Conference is set for August 27 through August 30 at the Cultural Center and Millennium Park, and the Chicago Jazz Festival runs September 3 through September 6.
Organizers have also announced El Grito Chicago will return to Grant Park the weekend of September 12, with Riot Fest planned for Douglass Park the weekend of September 18. Together, the dates show how Chicago’s festival season extends well past the traditional peak of summer.
