Chicago Weekend Festival Roundup Brings West Fest, Tacos Y Tamales and Climate Week Events to Neighborhoods Citywide
CHICAGO, IL — Chicago is heading into the weekend with a packed slate of street festivals, live music, food fairs and neighborhood sales designed to help residents shake off the week’s extreme heat. From West Town to Pilsen and Roscoe Village, the calendar is filled with outdoor events for families, food lovers and bargain hunters.
The lineup includes fan favorites like West Fest, Tacos y Tamales Fest and Burger Fest, plus Chicago’s first Climate Week programming, which adds workshops, swaps and recycling events to the mix.
Neighborhood festivals anchor the weekend
Several of the city’s biggest summer traditions are back. West Fest returns to West Town with live sets, food and retail vendors, and a Kid Fest featuring bounce houses and pony rides. In Roscoe Village, Burger Fest is marking its 19th year with restaurants competing for bragging rights over the city’s best burger.
Pilsen’s Tacos y Tamales Fest will once again celebrate Hispanic and Latin cultures with food, music and performances, while Colombian Fest in Humboldt Park brings another weekend of cultural programming and family-friendly entertainment. River North’s Taste of River North adds restaurant tastings, wine pairings, DJs and even a dog parade.
Climate Week and community events add a new layer
Chicago’s first Climate Week is also starting to make its presence felt. The schedule includes a back-to-school clothing swap at the Chicago Fair Trade Museum, a collage workshop at Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange and a specialty recycling drop-off during Bevapalooza in Beverly. Horner Park Brew Fest is likewise linking beer and sustainability, with proceeds aimed at the park’s 2026 goal of becoming an internationally accredited arboretum.
Other events lean into reuse, local shopping and community support, including sidewalk sales in Hyde Park, Lincoln Park and Avondale, along with craft and vintage markets in Logan Square, Navy Pier, Rogers Park, Pilsen and Ravenswood.
What else is on the calendar through Sunday
The weekend also includes a free cardio kickboxing class in Millennium Park, an art opening in Bridgeport, a Pupapalooza adoption event at Chicago Animal Care and Control, and a South Asian food screening event tied to PBS’s Spice Road in the South Loop. Summer wine events are set for Norwood Park and Lincoln Park Zoo, while Grant Slam Fest closes the weekend in Lakeview with local bands and vendors.
For visitors hoping to plan ahead, many of the events are free or ask only a suggested donation, making it easy to mix live music, shopping and neighborhood exploring across the city.
