Edina Police Respond to Armed Robbery on France Avenue; One Person Hospitalized After Shots Fired
EDINA, MINNESOTA — Police say a victim was hospitalized Sunday night after an armed robbery with shots fired in one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors near France Avenue and West 71st Street.
Officers Called to France Avenue on Report of Armed Robbery
According to Edina Police, officers were dispatched just before 6 p.m. after receiving a report of an armed robbery involving gunfire. The incident occurred southwest of the Galleria shopping center and close to Southdale Mall, an area that remains heavily trafficked during evening hours.
Responding officers secured the scene quickly as businesses and drivers in the area experienced heightened police presence.
One Victim Transported With Non-Life-Threatening Injuries
Roughly an hour after the initial emergency call, police announced that the situation was under control. Authorities confirmed that one victim was transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
