Eight Fans Arrested and 14 Ejected During Wisconsin vs. Washington Game at Camp Randall Stadium

MADISON, WISCONSIN — Eight people were arrested and several others ejected during Saturday’s Wisconsin vs. Washington Huskies football game at Camp Randall Stadium, according to the University of Wisconsin–Madison Police Department (UWPD).

Officials said the game drew a packed crowd, but a series of alcohol-related incidents led to multiple citations, arrests, and medical calls throughout the day.

Alcohol Violations and Ejections

A total of eight individuals were cited and ejected for underage drinking, UWPD confirmed in a release issued Sunday. Of those arrested, four were UW–Madison students.

An additional six people were ejected without citations, including two for disorderly conduct and four for alcohol intoxication. In total, 14 attendees were removed from the stadium, five of whom were students.

“Our officers remain focused on maintaining a safe environment for all fans,” the department said in its report.

Medical and Detox Calls

The game also generated several medical responses. Paramedics were called once, and five first aid requests were handled by on-site medical staff. Police said two detox calls were also made, and three people contacted by officers had blood alcohol levels exceeding .20.

The department emphasized that most fans complied with stadium policies, but alcohol-related offenses continue to pose challenges during major home games.

UWPD’s Ongoing Efforts at Camp Randall

The UW–Madison Police Department regularly partners with campus security teams and event staff to ensure large-scale safety coverage at Camp Randall. The department deploys extra officers on game days and monitors both the stadium and surrounding tailgate areas.

Officials say Saturday’s enforcement activity was consistent with past seasons, with alcohol-related issues remaining the most common offenses.

UWPD Chief Kristen Roman has previously stated that the department focuses on education and prevention just as much as enforcement, noting that “fan safety and responsible celebration are always top priorities.”

Game Day Safety Reminder

Police encouraged future attendees to drink responsibly, look out for fellow fans, and cooperate with security personnel during games.

“We want everyone to enjoy the game and get home safely,” UWPD reiterated. “Compliance with stadium policies ensures a positive experience for all.”

As the football season continues, university police and stadium officials plan to maintain increased presence at upcoming home games to deter misconduct and provide rapid response to emergencies.
